Forum devoted to health strengthening opened in Mali

Today the Global forum devoted to researches for health strengthening , development and social justice, was opened in Bamako (Mali).

It passes under an aegis of the World Health Organization (WHO), UNESCO and the World Bank.

The purpose of the forum is to extend researches contributing the health strengthening, development and justice due to the increase of attention to introduction of innovations. Its participants will discuss more than 30 problems among which are maintenance of the public health among problems being discussed by "Big Eight"; private investments into the public health in Africa; fight against pandemics and infectious diseases; collaboration in the public health sphere with the purpose of development; transparency of clinical trials.

More than 600 delegates from 67 countries, including 40 ministers of health, science and technology, higher education and development, take part in the forum.

It is expected that according to results of three-day discussions the ministers and other delegates of countries participating in the forum will accept the "Appeal of Bamako to Action". Its recommendations will be presented for consideration of the World Health Assembly in 2009 and UNESCO General Conference.
