What is feijoa useful for?

Feijoa fruit contain much iodine (3-4 mg in 100 g) – exactly due to this index feijoa excels all other food products - both vegetable and animal. And this is extraordinary important for children who will eat feijoa with more pleasure than laminaria.

This fruit never causes an allergy 1-2 berries satisfy the day's iodine requirement of the organism, which makes 150 micrograms.

Besides it, feijoa has many pectin matters (about 2.5%). Pectin is soft natural sorbent which clear the body of chemical waste and radicals (exactly they result in aging and reduce recovery after infectious diseases). There is a little sugar in the fruit - 5-10%. And it means that diabetics can regale themselves with them as much as they want.

Feijoa is used in the case of diseases of thyroid, gastritises, and pyelonephritis.

Feijoa fruit are used mainly fresh: they are added to salads, are ground with sugar. At that it is desirable not to peel the rind off (although it has astringent taste), to save more vitamins. Also it is possible to cook of its fruit jelly, jams, fruit compotes, marshmallow sticks and preserves. In this case its rind is peeled off.

Fresh feijoa fruit are saved not more than one month. For longer storage fruit can be ground with sugar (1 kg feijoa per 1 kg sugar), without heat treatment and by that saving all healthy matters.

And we advise you not to pay attention to the price - the health is more expensive!
